Meet the founder
My name is Kelly Martin. I was raised in Elizabethville and graduated from Upper Dauphin Area High School in 2010. I was a volunteer firefighter with Reliance Hose Co. No. 1, enjoyed playing soccer or participating in marching band activities in high school. I had interest in the medical field since I was a kid. I met my husband while getting ready to enter the Marine Corps, then took a pause on starting my military career to support him in his. In 2015, I earned my associate's degree in Liberal Arts with Math and Science emphasis at Copper Mountain College, Joshua Tree, CA.
I served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps as an Administrative Specialist from 2017 to 2021. During my time in, I was stationed at Marine Corps Recruiting Station Frederick, Maryland and earned the rank of Corporal.
In 2023, I studied in Harrisburg Area Community College’s Massage Therapy Program as a part of my education route to becoming a Fascial Counterstrainer. That year, I also began to build what is now Grounded Wellness Care, LLC. I became a Licensed Massage Therapist in the State of Pennsylvania in January 2024 as a prerequisite to beginning courses to learn Fascial Counterstrain. I now practice Fascial Counterstrain as a specialty for the central Pennsylvania region.
I am a wife and mom of two kids (three technically, I count my dog, Kodiak Milo, as my eldest son). My family is my world, when I am not in my office helping you I am focused raising our family to be good stewards of God. In the summer, I make a solid attempt to grow food and store it from our garden. I’m teaching myself as it was not a part of my upbringing so year by year I learn more. I love helping people and animals, spending time with my loved ones, snuggling Kodiak, horseback riding, hiking, exercising, playing card games, and traveling. I also still absolutely love the Marine Corps. I enjoy cooking and baking, most times the cooking is intuitive with spices being used like preventative medicine rather than taste. Except parsley, I add that like sprinkles. Most times it works, bless my husband’s heart for being an open minded taste tester.
Ultimately I meander around this life trying to stay present and grounded, connected to God, and looking for ways to be the light for someone. Most times for my kids, but if I can just help or motivate one more person a day to live their best life or pay forward a good feeling they felt- I’m happy with that. It’s an honor and blessing to be able to use my skills and knowledge professionally to help others achieve better health through bodywork. It’s a blessing to share kindness and strength with someone else.
My “Why”
“My fifth grade reading teacher, Mr. Daniel Bloch, asked us, “If you could have one super human power, what would it be”? I thought of Jesus and how he healed the sick and injured. My dad became sick with lung cancer and passed away when I was five years old. He was a good man and a brave, outstanding father. I thought about how I wish someone could’ve healed my dad. My verbal response to Mr. Bloch was, “healing hands”, and he smiled. And that started it.
I spent a lot of years looking for ways to heal people or protect people. Fire company, CNA work, lifeguard experience, Marine Corps- all things in that realm. When Dr. Brian Tuckey treated me the first time after nothing else worked to heal my injury, life made sense how it all led to that day. And I wanted to be like Brian.
What I do with my hands to heal people will never be as miraculous as how Jesus healed others through God. The work I’m learning would not have cured my dad’s cancer. Nevertheless, what I do to heal others with my hands is important because it can help people improve their wellness in advance of catastrophic situations. It helps people experience a better quality of life and healing.
Allowing God to lead and guide me to do His work, leading my kids by positive example, being the best wife I can, making a difference to help others, earning an income to reach family goals- they’re all good answers to why I am in this field. The best reason why I am in this field though is that Fascial Counterstrain is a great way to keep my loved ones healthy and honor the impact my parents and my family had on me growing up. I pray that God works through me, to help as many as I can. That’s the best legacy I can leave for my loved ones a hundred years from now, and the best state of being I can offer them all now as we all stay Grounded together.”
